Anyone else having problems uploading new work?

Mon Oct 19, 2009, 6:20 PM
I've been trying all evening to submit a new deviation to the Artisan Crafts > Folding & Papercraft category, but I keep getting an error saying the category is currently closed for submissions.

This makes me very sad. I was already sad from the removal of the Origami category and being pushed into a hodge-podge category where most of the work is unrelated to origami in any way other than its made from paper.

Sigh.

Well... I had a new deviation to submit today....

I folded a very nice dragon from a gorgeous piece of gold foil by making some modifications to one of the dragons I designed last year. I added some box pleats around the edges to add some really nice detail to the head. I set the piece on my desk and went to find my camera. The batteries were dead, so I had to find some fresh ones too. Returned to my desk and the dragon was gone. In its place was a very happy cat with incriminating gold flecks in her teeth. Grrrrrr.... damn cat. I spent most of this weekend on that dragon, and I won't have time to even think about trying to recreate it until next weekend.

New Deviations are coming soon!

I promise!

I ordered three new origami books this week. All three books are about Origami Aircraft that can really fly. I'm thinking of making my own Airforce and then flying them off the roof.

Chasing the Fox

Sun Dec 30, 2007, 9:21 AM
Yesterday I folded a beautiful fox. I used a piece of red foil paper that was so pale it was almost pink. Not quite a suitable color for the majestic and elusive fox, but it found the shape and form in flawless composition. The curve of the back, the swoosh of the tail, and the attentive ears all were in perfect imitation of the grace and elusive nature of a Vulpini.

Alas, I am not a photographer. I took dozens of pictures. I tried using different lighting, both natural and artificial. I tried every setting my camera has available. I even tried using different cameras, but to no avail. The elusive nature of the beast will suffer no picture to be taken.
